It can be hard enough to eat healthy as an adult. But children are naturally picky eaters, and it is often next to impossible to get them to eat anything green, lacking sugar, or that isn’t deep fried. But with a few tricks you can get them to eat food they love, that is good for them, too.
Instead of french fries, make stuffed potatoes. Just bake a couple of potatoes, split them down the middle, and scoop the insides out of their skin. Mix them with fat free sour cream, ground beef or turkey, and some kind of green vegetable, such as spinach or broccoli. Then pop the mixture back into the skin, sprinkle on some cheddar cheese, and pop back into the oven until the cheese has melted.
For something sweet, have them help out with something fun and good for them. For instance, instead of ice cream sundaes, replace the ice cream with peaches (you can grill them to bring out the flavor), and add some whipped cream, crushed peanuts, and some yogurt or cottage cheese. They can add their own toppings to make it more fun.
These are only a few ways you can get your kids to stay away from the candy and pizza.
